Four competence areas


For SIS, competence is the individual employee’s and the entire organisation’s ability to use, develop and share knowledge, skills and experience which we continually translate into value for our customers.

We focus on four competence areas in our employees, as our collaboration with customers is based on a holistic approach where a task always has several dimensions and therefore requires many different abilities and skills.

The four competence areas which SIS focuses on are:

Professional competences
– competences which are required in a given situation in order to deal with a specific task. These could be sales techniques, welding or product management.

Social competences
– competences which are required in a given function in order to enable the individual employee to use the other competences by working with others. These could be teamwork, communication or negotiation techniques.

Management competences
– competences which are required in a given management context, for example sales management, project management or staff management.

Business competences
– competences which are required to be business-oriented regardless of job function, for example industry knowledge, business acumen and knowledge about customers and suppliers.
